As crews continue to work on a major bridge project, that means more closures. The City of Barrie says there will be two extended closures in the city while construction work is underway for the Dunlop Street bridge replacement project. The first is on Cedar Pointe Drive at Dunlop Street West, which will be fully closed from next Monday until Nov. 27. The second is on the Highway 400 southbound on-ramp from westbound Dunlop Street West. That section will be shut down from next Monday until Nov. 13. Businesses on Cedar Pointe Drive will still be open and can be accessed through Edgehill Drive or Leacock Drive. Drivers can follow the detour signs, which will direct vehicles from Dunlop Street West via Ferndale and Edgehill Drive. To get around the Highway 400 on-ramp closure, traffic will be directed to Highway 400 through Ferndale Drive, Ardagh Road and Essa Road. The Dunlop Street bridge project is part of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Highway 400 project. The finished product will have an expanded bridge crossing Dunlop Street over the highway and the 400 will also become wider.
