For residents of Barrie, the warmth and humidity will continue going into Friday. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a Weather Statement indicating we can expected scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some areas have already received 50 to 100 millimetres of rain this morning and may be sensitive to additional amounts. The Weather Statement is in effect for: Wind speeds are expected to be a maximum of 15 km/h and Barrie’s daytime high is expected to reach 26. Humidex levels will reach 34 and the UV index remains high at six, similar to Thursday. In the evening, the chance of showers will decrease to 40 per cent and as the daytime low is 19 degrees, the weather agency says residents can expect fog patches to develop overnight.
