It was a perfect day for a disaster. Monday morning’s sun shone brightly, and the crew of the MS Chi-Cheemaun was ready and able to take part in a Marine Evacuation System training exercise. The large red life rafts and slide were deployed before a crowd of onlookers gathered at the east side of the Owen Sound Harbour for the exhibition. Willing participants slid down the slide into the rafts which were towed by Zodiac boats to shore. “The exercise reflects the Owen sound Transportation Company’s ongoing commitment to safety, training and emergency preparedness. The exercise was a great success and provided a valuable experience for everyone who participated and gathered to watch,” said the social media post. The MS Chi-Cheemaun will travel to Hamilton for scheduled winter dry-dock maintenance.
