Eleven years after Jaimee Lee Miller’s life was tragically cut short, the search for answers continues for everyone who knew her, loved her and has followed the case. The Barrie, Ont., woman’s killer has never been caught and police are once again asking for the public’s help in solving her murder. Miller was a mother of three and just 30 years old when she disappeared in the fall of 2015. She was last seen on Oct. 12 and was reported missing to Barrie police on Nov. 2. On March 16, 2016, her remains were discovered in the Simcoe County Forest, east of Gill Road and south of Hillview Crescent in Springwater Township. Investigators say a post-mortem examination confirmed it was a homicide. Flowers and a cross marked the spot where her body was found. For Miller’s mother, Maureen Murray, the first sign something was wrong came when her daughter stopped responding to her messages. According to previous CTV reporting, the two had spoken almost every day, even if it was just a quick conversation to check in. “I texted her, ‘Hello, how are you?’ She texted back and said, ‘I’m fine.’ That was the last time I heard from her,” Murray recalled in an interview. That final exchange happened on Thanksgiving in 2015. Murray never heard from her daughter again. The outgoing and active person that everyone knew was silenced. More than a decade later, no one has been brought to justice for Miller’s death. A $50,000 reward was offered by police for information leading to a conviction. The investigation still remains active under the direction of the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Branch. Police are hoping someone who knows what happened to Miller will come forward.
