Rain warnings in place throughout region

Yellow and Orange rain warnings in place throughout Simcoe Muskoka

Yellow and orange rain warnings have been put in place throughout Simcoe Muskoka.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) a yellow rain warning has been put in place as far north as Bracebridge to south of Toronto.

Rainfall amounts could fall anywhere from 20 to 40 mm and is expected to fall Saturday night.

“A Colorado low will bring rain to the area Saturday, beginning with periods of rain during the day.,“ the statement read. ”The heaviest rain is expected to fall Saturday evening and Saturday night, with locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”

An orange warning has put in place north of Bracebridge, including Parry Sound and Huntsville.

Rainfall amounts could see between 30 to 50 mm in these areas.

“Another round of rainfall is expected Saturday. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall,” the statement said. “Localized flooding is likely. Some roads may become impassable. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times.”
