There is lots of rain on the way for southern Alberta. It will be too much rain too fast in some spots, which will lead to some localized flooding and water pooling on some roadways. In addition, the snow melt in the mountains has been accelerated with all the heat this week, so overland flooding from the rivers is also possible in Alberta, although minimal overland flooding is expected in Calgary. Friday night and Saturday morning are the perfect times to take a little walk around your property to make sure storm drains, eavestroughs and gutters are cleared out and ready for all the rain coming, so the water doesn’t end up in your home. Here are some forecast rainfall amounts to give you an idea in southern Alberta for Saturday night through Tuesday: Saturday in Calgary will be fairly decent. There’s a good amount of cloud cover, cooler temperatures and a small chance of isolated showers. The heavy rain will start late Saturday night or Sunday morning in Calgary.
