Slightly used pumpkins wanted Ralphy’s Retreat Animal Sanctuary took to social media to show their appreciation for donations of pumpkins for their wildlife. “Sometimes, the kindness of a community leaves you a little speechless. Today is one of those times,” owners wrote on social media. It was a day after Bradford Greenhouse in Barrie, and Real Canadian Superstore in Midland donated 700 pumpkins to Ralphy’s Retreat. “For our animals, these pumpkins are so much more than a seasonal treat. They mean happy snouts, curious noses, crunchy munching, and some very spoiled residents. We can already image the excitement as our animal discover this mountain of pumpkin goodness!” Little more than an hour southwest of Ralphy’s Retreat, another farm has used social media to reach out for neighbours’ pumpkins. The Hooves & Feathers farm in Utopia is a larger animal sanctuary for roughly 50 animals. “Don’t forget to save your pumpkins for our animal family!” says Hooves & Feathers. They ask for carved and even a little mouldy is okay, but not rotten. Uncarved pumpkins are welcome as well.
