Ninety-six hungry bears in Sprucedale, Ont., just received a very special delivery. Bear With Us, a rehabilitation centre for black bears, welcomed 12 pallets of high-quality kibble on Thursday, giving a growing group of orphaned black bears plenty to eat as they continue their journey back to the wild. The donation, delivered by Ontario Wildlife Rescue, the Hamilton Burlington SPCA and Manitoulin Transport, will help make sure each bear receives the nutrition it needs to grow strong and healthy. According to its website, Bear With Us has been rehabilitating orphaned and injured black bears since becoming a registered Canadian charity in 2000. The organization’s goal is to give the animals a second chance at life and help them return to the wild in the best possible condition. Beyond rehab, the charity educates the public about living safely amongst black bears while operating a sanctuary for the others that cannot be released.
