Repairing or replacing your home’s septic tank system can be an endeavour that costs you tens of thousands of dollars. The town of Innisfil is offering residents a chance to avoid unnecessary headache from their home’s inner workings, with an invitation to an information night. Residents are invited to town hall for Tank Talk, an information session on septic tanks happening at Innisfil Town Hall on Aug. 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The town says the event is meant to offer residents a chance to learn more about septic system maintenance, how septic systems work, common mistakes made by homeowners, warning signs of a brewing problem and best practices to elongate the life of the tank system. “Regular septic maintenance can help homeowners avoid costly repairs while protecting groundwater and the local environment,” says Barrie Vickers, chief building official for the town. “Tank Talk is an opportunity for residents to hear directly from industry experts and leave with practical information they can put to use,” Vickers said in a statement posted by the town.
