A Calgary Dollarama location had to be evacuated on Tuesday after a gas leak. Alex Kwan, public information officer with the Calgary Fire Department, says crews were called to a Beltline Dollarama in the 1400 block of 12 Avenue S.W. just before 9:30 a.m. “We had a number of occupants complaining of either not feeling well or some uneasiness,” he said. “Our crews started an investigation, and we evacuated the one store.” Kwan said eight people were inside at the time, all of whom were assessed by paramedics. No one required transportation to hospital, Kwan said. “Through our investigation, we also found a neighbouring (veterinary clinic) that had been doing surgeries on animals. We had them shelter in place. It was 13 people and nine animals; it was safe for them to stay where they were.” Firefighters were able to identify a leak from a gas line on the roof of the building, which was connected to a heating unit. The leak was stopped, and no injuries were reported.
