Two people are facing charges in connection with a trafficking investigation that saw Calgary police seize a stolen handgun, ammunition, drugs and cash.

Police launched the investigation in June after receiving reports about an alleged drug trafficker with a gun.

Officers searched a home in the 500 block of McKinnon Drive N.E. in Mayland Heights, at which time they seized the following:

• A loaded 9-mm handgun, later determined to have been stolen from Strathmore, Alta.
• Handgun ammunition;
• $7,819.60;
• 17.5 grams of cocaine;
• 59.9 grams of fentanyl and
• 10.6 grams of methamphetamine.

Police allege the accused “discarded a firearm” before being taken into custody.

The 45-year-old is facing 19 drug and weapons-related charges.

A 26-year-old woman is charged with possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and failure to comply with a release order.
