Three people from Edmonton are accused of defrauding multiple victims of $130,000 by taking over a financial investor account. They allegedly removed the money from several clients’ legitimate investments, then transferred it to themselves. RCMP did not say how many people were victimized, or name the company involved. Investigators found the alleged fraudsters tried to access 18 other client accounts, “however, the company was able to intervene and prevent unauthorized access before any additional funds were removed.” All three of the accused, who are in their early 20s, face multiple charges related to fraud and laundering. Two were released and are scheduled to appear in court. Police have not been able to locate the third, King-Wa-Mfumu Tshiama, and asked anyone with information about their location to contact Strathcona County RCMP at 780-467-7741. Mounties called the year-long investigation complex, noting investigators analyzed several hundred documents and executed seven judicial authorizations. The money was recovered through the company’s insurance.
