A man arrested in Calgary as part of a nation-wide human trafficking investigation is now facing more charges. The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) arrested 33-year-old Neylson Benoit-Ancion on March 12. It’s alleged the Montreal man travelled across Canada exploiting girls and woman for sex. Benoit-Ancion was charged with trafficking a person, obtaining material benefit from sexual services, procuring a person for sexual services and advertising a person for sexual services. On Wednesday, ALERT revealed Benoit-Ancion is facing new charges after allegedly attempted to interfere with a witness. “He allegedly attempted to coerce some of his previously identified victims into not cooperating with the court proceedings,” ALERT said in a news release. Officers arrested Benoit-Ancion on Oct. 19 and charged with failure to comply with release conditions and obstruction of justice. ALERT says while officers have identified several of Benoit-Ancion’s alleged victims, there is a “strong likelihood” that there are additional victims across Canada. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact local police or Crime Stoppers. Survivors of human trafficking can call 211 for help. Benoit-Ancion remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
