The Government of Alberta said 15-year-old students ranked top in Canada in science based on results from the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). “These outstanding results show Alberta students continue to excel on the world stage. They are a testament to the hard work of students, teachers, families and school communities across our province,” Demetrios Nicolaides, minister of education and childcare said. In a Tuesday media release, the reported that Albertan students came in second behind Quebec in math nationally and scored above international averages in all three subjects, with: PISA is a global comparative survey on math, reading and science. The 2025 assessment included more than 760,000 students from 91 countries. Nicolaides said student’s results were comparable to global top performers, including Singapore, Hong Kong and Korea. “It really helps to demonstrate that our students have bright futures ahead of them because they’re scoring so high nationally and internationally,” he said. PISA is held every four years.
