A crash that killed a 21-year-old motorcyclist in southeast Edmonton on Wednesday is under investigation. On Thursday, police said officers responded to the crash near 34 Street and 64 Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. It was reported that a 44-year-old woman driving a 2017 Land Rover Range Rover was southbound on 34 Street and trying to turn east onto 64 Avenue when a motorcyclist, also going south on 34 Street, hit the back of her vehicle. The man on the motorcycle died on scene. The driver of the Range Rover and two passengers, a man and a teen girl, remained at the scene and did not report any injuries at the time. Police said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash and the Edmonton Police Service’s major collisions unit is investigating. Anyone who saw the crash or has dash camera footage is asked to call police at 780-423-4567 or #311 from a cell phone. As of Aug. 8, EPS had reported no deaths from motorcycle collisions.
