The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are renewing their appeal for information six years after the homicide of Mohamed Amin Ismail, whose body was discovered north of Guelph. Investigators with the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate the death of the 25-year-old Ottawa resident and are asking anyone with information to come forward — even if they believe the detail may be insignificant. On Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers with the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a deceased person found along the roadway on Watson Road North, just south of Wellington Road 124. The victim was later identified as Ismail. The investigation remains active under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Police believe individuals in Wellington County, Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa may have information that could help determine what happened to Ismail. “Investigators remain dedicated to finding those responsible for Mohamed’s death,” said Detective Inspector Michael Moore of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. “If you have information, no matter how small or seemingly unrelated, now is the time to come forward. Your information could make a critical difference in this investigation and bring much-needed answers to Mohamed’s loved ones.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
