A hockey goalie from Cambridge, Ont. has signed a three-year NHL contract worth $15 million. The Columbus Blue Jackets announced they had signed Jet Greaves on Thursday, days before a scheduled arbitration hearing. The $5 million annual salary was a middle group between the parties. Don Waddell, the Columbus Blue Jackets’ president of hockey operations and general manager, confirmed Greaves had filed at $7.5 million in the event of a potential arbitration hearing, with the Blue Jackets filing at $2.8 million. In 2022, Greaves signed with Columbus as a free agent. In 2023, he set a record for a Blue Jackets debut by making 46 saves in a 4-2 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In April 2025, he made headlines again by stopping 21 shots for his first NHL shutout against the Washington Capitals. “Jet is a high-character, talented and athletic goaltender who has become an important part of our hockey club,” Waddell said. “Our intent always was to get a deal done to ensure he remains a Blue Jacket and we are thrilled that we were able to do so.” Graves was born in Cambridge and played for the Cambridge Hawks AAA teams before heading to the OHL where he played with the Barrie Colts. Recently, he also took the ice for Team Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland.
