A person who worked for the Guelph Police Service is facing charges of robbery and assault with a weapon. The Waterloo Regional Police Service launched a criminal investigation on April 28. One of the people involved in that investigation was a civilian employee of the Guelph Police Service who worked for them for 15 years. On May 31, the male employee was arrested and charged with robbery and assault with a weapon. Immediately after the arrest, the Guelph Police Service suspended him and launched an internal investigation. “As a result of the internal investigation, the civilian employee is no longer employed with the Guelph Police Service,” they said in a media release on Monday. Police added that because the case is now before the courts, they will not provide any further comments.
