The London Knights opened their season with an overtime victory after erasing a late push from the Windsor Spitfires and securing a 4-3 win in extra time. Windsor appeared poised to steal the game after London carried a lead into the final minute, but the Knights forced overtime when Bogdan Yakushevsky scored his first Ontario Hockey League (OHL) goal with just 14 seconds remaining in regulation. Cooper McAslan netted the overtime winner off an assist from Kane Barch to give London the extra point. Jonathan Kapageridis made an immediate impact in his Knights debut, recording a goal and an assist. Cohen Bidgood also found the back of the net, while Evan Van Gorp contributed a pair of assists. In goal, rookie Charlie Weiss stopped 20 shots to earn a win in his first OHL appearance. The two teams face off again tonight in Windsor at 7:05.
