Lambton County OPP is reminding residents to respect election signs as municipalities across Ontario prepare for municipal elections on Oct. 26. Police say the unauthorized removal, damage or tampering of election signs could result in charges under the Criminal Code of Canada. The reminder comes after Lambton County OPP received complaints about election signs being removed without authorization in communities across the county. OPP is asking anyone with information about the theft or damage of election signs to contact the Lambton County detachment at 1-888-310-1122. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online through Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers. Police note tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000. Municipal elections are scheduled to be held across Ontario on Oct. 26.
