Elizabeth O’Loughlin who was out for a walk with her dog along Brydges Street in Aug. 2024 when she was viciously attacked by a man who stabbed her six times. The 78-year-old was rushed to hospital at the time and received dozens of stitches for her wounds. The senior has since passed away from issues not related to the attack. Last December, Cristefer Young-Hough, 33, plead guilty to aggravated assault in connection to the incident. He also plead guilty to assault causing bodily harm after he attacked a corrections officer while in custody at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre. The court has heard that Young-Hough has suffered a lifetime of mental health issues. At his sentencing hearing on Tuesday, the Crown asked that he receive a total of nine years behind bars with the defence asking for time already served. Before wrapping up Justice Michael Carnegie told the court, “This is a very difficult proceeding.” Justice Carnegie is expected to hand down his sentencing decision on Oct. 26.
