Three people are injured after a large fire at a two-storey residential building in Montreal’s Parc-Extension neighbourhood early Wednesday morning. The Montreal fire department (SIM) received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. about the sound of an explosion on Saint-Roch Street near de l’Épée Avenue. “When the first units arrived on site, the whole building was on fire and the front part of the building collapsed,” said Montreal fire department spokesperson William Murray. “It’s a residential building.” He added that more than 120 firefighters were called to battle the blaze. Three men were transported to hospital to be treated for various injuries. Their lives are not considered to be in danger. An additional 30 tenants were evacuated from the building and are being looked after by the Canadian Red Cross. Montreal police (SPVM) is on site to assist with traffic. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not considered criminal.
