Firefighters from multiple communities helped battle a large industrial fire at a metal recycler business near the Saskatchewan and Alberta border in the Lloydminster area. According to Legacy Regional Protective Services, firefighters were called to the scene at about 4 p.m. on Monday after reports of a small outdoor fire. When crews arrived, they found a large industrial fire at Inland Steel Products. Legacy Regional Protective Services says one of the largest mutual-aid requests in the region’s history was made, bringing nine fire departments to the scene. The response included 12 water tenders, three ladder trucks, five fire engines and numerous firefighters. Crews were able to stop the fire’s spread by about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Legacy Regional Protective Services thanks the responding departments for their assistance, saying the operation would not have been as successful without their support. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately available.
