Man, 31, clocked going twice the speed limit, gun seized in car: Laval police

A 31-year-old Laval man is looking at a $1,693 fine after he was clocked driving over twice the speed limit at 1 a.m., allegedly with a gun on board on Highway 15.

Quebec provincial police (SQ) say that Laval officers pulled the man over after he was driving 156 km/h in a 70 km/h zone near the Concorde area of the city north of Montreal.

A firearm was seized after the man’s car was searched.

In addition to the ticket, the driver’s license was suspended, and he received 18 demerit points.

“The operation also led to the individual’s arrest for possession of a prohibited weapon and other firearms-related charges,” the SQ said.

The man was released on conditions.
