One person is in hospital and a suspect is being sought following a weekend shooting in Constance Lake First Nation. The shooting took place early Saturday morning, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service said in a news release Aug. 31. “Investigators determined the incident occurred at a residence in the community, where an adult male victim sustained injuries during an apparent shooting,” police said. “Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. The exact extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.” Several police units have been called in to investigate, with assistance provided by the Ontario Provincial Police. The residence where the shooting took place is being contained and a significant police presence remains in the area. “Officers remain in the community searching for a male suspect,” police said. “A description of the suspect is not available at this time. As a safety precaution, Constance Lake First Nation residents are asked to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel while police search for the suspect.” Further updates will be provided as information becomes available, the release added.
