A 50-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault following an incident inside a retail store in Elliot Lake involving a child. The suspect, an employee at the store, was arrested Aug. 31, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Sept. 3. Police were alerted to the incident through a phone call Aug. 26. “The complainant reported that their young child was at a Hillside Drive South retail store a few days prior when an employee interacted with the child inappropriately,” the release said. “After a thorough investigation, police arrested and charged the employee.” May be more victims The Elliot Lake man is charged with one count each of sexual assault of someone under the age of 16 and sexual interference. The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on Sept. 1 and was later released. “Because the accused was a retail store employee and had numerous interactions with the public,” police said they fear there may be more victims.
