A 25-year-old man is in custody facing multiple assault related charges after police in Sault Ste. Marie say someone was stabbed early Wednesday. Police said officers responded to a residence in the 0-100 block of Blucher Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. following a 911 call reporting an assault. Victim hospitalized “An investigation revealed the accused had stabbed a victim twice with a knife and struck them with an object,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the victim sustained “serious but non-life-threatening injuries” and was transported to hospital. “The victim and accused are known to one another,” added police. Charges laid Officers took the man into custody at the scene. He has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
