Security guards at a high school football game at James Jerome Sports Complex were attacked last week when they were trying to get near an unconscious female. Sudbury police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn said police were dispatched to the scene Oct. 2 in the area of the field and Lily Creek “in relation to a disturbance.” “Information provided was that security guards were alerted to what was believed to be a fight involving multiple youth near the Lily Creek trail,” Dunn said in an email to CTV News on Oct. 7. “When the security guards arrived at the location, they found a youth who appeared to be unconscious surrounded by a group of youths. When the security guards attempted to move some of the youth away from the unconscious individual, they were assaulted by youths who were present.” The security guards were injured in the assault and treated by paramedics. “The unconscious youth was transported to hospital by paramedics,” Dunn said. “At this time, it does not appear that the unconscious youth was the victim of an assault … The incident remains under investigation.”
