Police in northwestern Ontario have charged a 50-year-old from Sudbury with stunt driving following an incident late last month in Nipigon. On Sept. 26 on Highway 11/17, Ontario Provincial Police said they locked in on a black Ford Explorer “travelling 148km/h in a 90km/h zone along Highway 11/17.” In addition to the stunt driving charge, the man’s SUV was impounded for two weeks and his driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days. A court date has been set for Nov. 9 via virtual Zoom court in Nipigon. “Stunt driving puts everyone at risk,” the OPP said in a social media post. “A few seconds of reckless speed can lead to life-altering consequences. Slow down, drive responsibly, and help keep our roads safe for everyone.”
