Six people were transported to hospital for treatment after a crash involving a driver travelling the wrong way on Highway 50 in Gatineau, Que., according to police. Emergency crews responded to the crash on Highway 50 near Allumettieres Boulevard at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. A spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec tells CTV News Ottawa the investigation has found a woman was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of Highway 50 and struck another vehicle. She was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. There were five people in the second vehicle involved in the collision. Police say two people in the back of the vehicle were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three other people in the vehicle were transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police say the investigation continues into the crash, with investigators trying to determine why the driver was travelling the wrong way on the highway. Highway 50 was closed overnight for the investigation, but reopened Thursday morning.
