A tornado warning in the Kingston area has ended. The warning was issued at around 12:45 p.m., with Environment Canada saying meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm that was possibly producing a tornado. The storm moved across the area, with warnings in place for other areas such as Marysville and Gananoque. The red-level warnings ended just before 1:30 p.m., and were downgraded to a yellow-level severe thunderstorm warning. “At 1:25 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and very heavy rain,” the warning said. It’s unclear if a tornado touched down. There are reports of downed trees in parts the region, including Harrowsmith, Ont., north of Kington, and along Highway 15. The Garrison Golf Club in Kingston says its golf course and driving range will be closed on Tuesday and Canada Day as a result of “heavy rain and wind damage.”
