A highly anticipated donut shop is now open in Ottawa. “We’ve been looking on their Instagram every day,” says customer Brayden. Homies, known as Homers Boîte à Beignes in Quebec, opened a location at Herongate Mall last weekend after launching a location in Gatineau last year. “My parents tried this place in Gatineau and they said it was some of the best donuts they ever had. So, we’ve been waiting for this place to open since,” Brayden said. “A lot of people are coming in and taking videos and posting online,” said Ian Davis, supervisor for the Homers Company. The Ottawa location opened last Friday, and Davis says it’s been busy. “It was a very good opening.” He said, depending on the day, they make about 5,000 donuts per day. What about the taste? “Fluffy, great taste. Melt in your mouth, makes you want to come back,” said Davis. “They’re just very fluffy, and all around just very good,” said another customer. “They’re just easy to eat.” This is the second location to open in Ontario, with a store opening in Scarborough last April. There is also a location in New York City, and Davis says a store will open next in Dearborn, Michigan. The donut shop started with a location in Montreal in March 2024 and attracted many customers. “It was lined around the street, and everybody was like, ‘what’s going on here,’” says Davis.
