Here were the winds, rain and hail reported across Sask. on Sept. 7

A series of severe thunderstorms made their presence known on Sunday, producing torrential rainfall, high winds and, in one case, baseball-sized hail.

A summary for Sunday, Sept. 7 from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) reported extensive rainfall from nine locations. They included:

• Last Mountain 56.5 millimetres (mm)
• Val Marie 31.2 mm
• Moose Jaw 24.5 mm
• Broadview 31.5 mm
• Regina 24 and 26 mm (Two reporting locations)
• “Duckm SKfire 29.72 mm
• “Hznmr SKfire” 55.8 mm
• “Hldft SKfire” 29.8 mm

The severe thunderstorms also led to high winds. Gusts ranging from 91 km/h to 85 km/h were reported in Regina, while the communities of Mankota, Val Marie and Radville reported gusts of 89 km/h, 93 km/h and 85 km/h respectively.

Hail described as “baseball sized” was reported in Kipling, according to ECCC.

ECCC has not released details of the various torrential downpours reported on Monday.

Localized flooding was reported in Regina and Weyburn, with various businesses forced to temporarily close due to being inundated with water.
