The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking public feedback about its Farm Security Act. As it undertakes a comprehensive review of the legislation, it has launched a public survey on Saskatchewan.ca. “Farmland is one of Saskatchewan’s most valuable assets, and we want to ensure the legislative framework governing its ownership and protection continues to meet the needs of Saskatchewan people,” Agriculture Minister David Marit said in a Tuesday news release. The act sets out rules governing who can own or control farmland in the province. The province says the survey is intended to gather information about the perception, use and effectiveness of the act, including farmland ownership, home quarter protection and farm foreclosure protections. The release states the survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and all answers are confidential. The data will be used as part of the review. The survey will be open until Nov. 30.
