A Regina area teenager is in hospital after being injured during a football game in Swift Current. It happened during a game between the Greenall Griffins and the Swift Current Colts on Thursday, Sept. 10. According to an online fundraiser posted by a family member, Hunter Gronick walked off the field after taking a hit but soon lost consciousness. He was later diagnosed with a brain bleed. He was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance for emergency surgery in Regina. According to the fundraiser, he remains in intensive care. “At this point, we expect him to spend weeks in the ICU, followed by what we know will be a long road to recovery,” the fundraiser read. Gronick’s family says they will continue to share updates on his condition and recovery. As of Friday evening, the fundraiser has brought in more than $20,000.
