Vancouver police have arrested a Regina woman on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching her probation. The woman had previously pleaded guilty in connection to the 2020 killing of Keesha Bitternose. Kelly Renee Stonechild was wanted for breaching her probation related to a manslaughter charge, according to a news release from Vancouver police on Tuesday. Police were tipped off after she was spotted in the area of Clark Drive and East 12th Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Monday. “When officers attempted to arrest Stonechild, she refused to comply with their commands and allegedly reached into her waistband,” the release read. The service reported a police dog was used to take Stonechild into custody. Stonechild previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter related to the 2020 killing of Keesha Bitternose. She was one of three individuals charged in the killing – with the other two being Kurtis Clayton Thomas and Dillon Ricky Whitehawk. Thomas pled guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 18 years for his role in Bitternose’s death – while Whitehawk was convicted of second-degree murder. He received a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
