Regina’s mayor says he’s confident in the decision that was made to terminate former police chief Farooq Sheikh. “We’ll be following the process and at the end of the day, the board is confident in the decisions they’ve made and we’ll proceed and follow the process,” Mayor Chad Bachynski told reporters on Tuesday. Bachynski shared a similar wait and see approach to Regina’s current chief of police, Lorilee Davies, while speaking to reporters at a board of police commissioners meeting this week. Sheikh was terminated with cause in October 2025 following an investigation by the Public Complaints Commission (PCC). The former chief is appealing his dismissal, with the hearing dates set for September.
