An RCMP operation on Keeseekoose First Nation has led to the arrest of an armed man who allegedly harmed a dog in the community. According to RCMP, at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, officers from Kamsack received a report of a suspicious armed man on the First Nation located around 95 kilometres northeast of Yorkton. An investigation determined the man entered a property, injured a dog and then left the scene. He went inside nearby home. Officers approached the home and told the man he was under arrest. Initially he refused to leave the home. With the help of the RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, the man was eventually arrested. The 26-year-old from Kamsack faces one count of causing injury to an animal, three counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of mischief under $5,000, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of failing to comply with a probation order. He is set to appear in Kamsack Provincial Court on Tuesday. RCMP noted the dog involved in the incident is recovering from its injuries.
