Swift Current will become the first Saskatchewan city host the Canadian Curling Club Championships. Curling Canada announced the city will host the 2027 championships, which will see club champions from across the country compete to crown the top team in Canada. “Swift Current has been an exemplary host in the past, and we know this time will be no different,” said Nolan Thiessen, CEO of Curling Canada. “This event perfectly reflects what makes curling such a special sport. It is truly a sport for life, bringing people together through competition, community, and lifelong participation.” Swift Current has hosted several top Curling Canada events in the past, including the 2023 Canadian Mixed Championship, with the home province claiming gold. On the international stage, the city hosted the World Women’s Curling Championship twice, in 2010 and 2016. “The Swift Current Curling Club has a long history of hosting successful national and international events,” said Melody Robertson, host committee chair and president of the Swift Current Curling Club. “We look forward to continuing that success by hosting the Canadian Curling Club Championships 2027. We cannot wait to meet all the successful club curlers and to show them a wonderful time here in Swift Current and the great Southwest.” Swift Current’s Mayor says the event is a big get for his city. “We look forward to welcoming people from across the country, extending our prairie hospitality and making this event unforgettable for curling fans and participants,” said Mayor Al Bridal. No Saskatchewan women’s team has ever won the Canadian Curling Club Championships, which was established in 2009. On the men’s side, Saskatoon’s Darren Kamm claimed the gold in 2010, while Saskatoon’s Kory Kohuch won the 2014 event. The 2027 Canadian Curling Club Championships run Nov. 23-28, 2027 at the Swift Current Curling Club.
