The Thanksgiving long weekend featured a wintry atmosphere as scattered snow whitened areas across Saskatchewan. Those across some parts of Saskatchewan faced a brief blast of winter conditions over the Thanksgiving long weekend. A low-pressure system crossing southern Saskatchewan brought a mix of snow and rain on Monday, with Environment Canada noting several areas saw over 10 centimetres of snowfall. Shaunavon led the way with 11 centimetres, according to snow-on-ground sensors and observers. Rockglen was close behind with 10 centimetres. “Much of the snow melted on contact with mild ground temperatures, and more precipitation was received as rain,” Environment Canada noted in its weather summary. Rockglen was the provincial leader when combining snow and rain, receiving almost 20 millimetres of combined precipitation. Estevan was next in line with 17.5 millimetres of total precipitation. Temperatures are rising across much of the province throughout the week, with both Saskatoon and Regina expecting daytime highs of around 20 degrees by the weekend.
