Police services across Ontario warned of widespread 911 outages overnight but it appears service has been restored in most areas of the GTA. In the GTHA, police services in Toronto, Peel, York, Niagara, and Durham all noted outages overnight. In a post on social media, Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that it too was impacted by the issue. “OPP has received reports of intermittent 911 outages in parts of the province. The public is urged to call the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122, which remains in service, if they are unable to call 911 and require emergency police services,” provincial police said in a post on social media. By about 6 a.m., most police services confirmed that their lines are back up and running, including Peel, York, Durham, and Toronto. For other regions where service has not yet been restored, residents are urged to contact non-emergency lines to access emergency services. It is unclear what led to the outage but at least two other provinces are also dealing with issues. Outages have also been reported in both Nova Scotia and Quebec.
