The City of Toronto says nearly double the number of voters turned out for advance voting this year compared to the last general municipal election in 2022. According to the city, 225,550 eligible voters cast their ballot during the six days of advance voting, up from about 130,000 in the 2023 mayoral byelection and approximately 116,000 in the last general municipal election in 2022. The data also shows that on Sunday, Oct. 11, 53,363 Torontonians voted in advance polls, smashing the record for the highest number of votes cast in a single day since Toronto’s amalgamation. The previous record was set in 2023 with 38,621 eligible voters casting ballots.
