All eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 are closed in Mississauga this morning due to a transport truck fire, Ontario Provincial Police say. Collector lanes were shut down at Winston Churchill Boulevard shortly before 2 a.m., although express lanes remain open. In a social media post released at around 4 a.m., police said they expect the lanes to be closed “for several more hours” to “facilitate clean-up efforts.” No injuries were reported. “What a mess this morning,” CP24 Traffic Specialist Meital Sperling said on Friday, adding that the express lanes are seeing a big back up. She noted that traffic is heavy from Winston Churchill Boulevard to Mississauga Road. “You can see crews still doing some work, patching up the roadway,” Sperling said. “Try the 407, it is probably a better option, or give yourself lots of extra time.” Lanes are expected to be closed until at least 10:30 a.m.
