One person has been arrested and charged, while another remains at-large, following a double stabbing in Mississauga on Saturday night. The incident, which investigators initially described as an altercation with a “possible stabbing,” happened at a shopping plaza in the Cooksville neighbourhood near Dundas Street West and Parkerhill Road, just west of Hurontario Street. Peel Regional Police said at around 5 p.m. officers responded to a call for a disturbance in a parking lot. “Upon arrival, officers located two adult men suffering from stab wounds following a reported parking dispute,” they said in a news release. “Both victims were transported to hospital with serious injuries and are now in stable condition.” Police said officers at the scene searched the area and quickly located one of the suspects without incident. Ali Halimi, 30, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with assault. The charge has not been tested in court. A second male suspect, whom police believe stabbed the victims and is in possession of the knife, remains outstanding. He is wanted for attempted murder. The outstanding suspect is described as Middle Eastern and approximately 25 to 35 years old with a thin build, a medium complexion, thinning brown hair, and an unshaven appearance. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black Nike sweatpants, a black crossbody bag, and white and grey Air Jordan shoes with a black logo. Investigators say he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach and instead call 911 immediately. Incident stems from fight over a parking spot: police Speaking with CP24 on Sunday afternoon, Const. Tyler Bell-Morena said police believe this incident is the result of a fight over a parking spot, adding the best thing to do when faced with a “heated” encounter like this is to “just walk away.” “It’s just not worth what we saw happen here,” he said. As for the two stabbing victims, the media officer said they’re now “stabilized.” Bell-Morena said the victims are a man in his 30s and another in his 40s. They are known to each other, he said. “They’re both very lucky to be alive at this point from a very terrifying incident that took place yesterday and what all started from a parking dispute,” he told CP24 late Sunday afternoon. Bell-Morena went on to say that detectives are now working to understand exactly what led up to this violent altercation. They’re also trying to locate an outstanding suspect, who is believed to be the stabber and is in possession of a “large” knife, he added. The constable noted that “pretty graphic” video footage is circulating of the incident as well as several photos of the wanted man. Investigators are also talking to a number of witnesses. ‘Matter of time before we get this individual’ “We’re working very diligently right now to get a positive identification on this individual. I’m sure that won’t be very long from now. There’s substantial footage in the area that detectives are going over, and many, many witness accounts of what transpired,” he said, adding “given the seriousness of this this incident and the significant injuries, with both victims being lucky to be alive, yes, (the suspect) will be charged with attempted murder.” “It’s a matter of time before we get this individual so I really would suggest that he gets a lawyer, seeks counsel. We’re going to get him soon.” Police, Bell-Morena said, are trying to ascertain if the suspects know each other.
