Mounties say one person has died after a house fire in Burnaby early Friday morning. Burnaby RCMP said officers responded to the fire on Douglas Road, near Norfolk Street, just after 4:30 a.m., along with B.C. Emergency Health Services and the Burnaby Fire Department. One person was provided emergency medical care but died at the scene, police said. BCEHS said three patients were hospitalized as a result of the fire, one in serious condition and two in stable condition. Police said a section of Douglas Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened. Burnaby RCMP said its Investigative Support Team is working with arson investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
