Mounties in Burnaby say a house fire that killed one person last week has been deemed non-suspicious. Firefighters were first called to the home on Douglas Road near Norfolk Street just after 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 9. Despite the efforts of first responders at the scene, one person did not survive. The victim has now been identified as a 33-year-old woman from Burnaby. “We offer our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends,” Burnaby RCMP wrote in an update Thursday. Police said investigators ruled out arson and the matter has been handed over to the B.C. Coroners Service.
