BC Ferries cancelling some Vancouver-Sunshine Coast reservations due to mechanical issue

BC Ferries sailings between Metro Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast are operating with reduced vehicle capacity on Monday due to a mechanical issue at the terminal, according to the company.

The issue with Berth 1 at the Langdale terminal means loading is restricted to the main vehicle deck only, BC Ferries said in a notice. As a result, some travellers’ reservations needed to be cancelled Monday.

BC Ferries says customer service will contact those with bookings to inform them if they can fit on an alternate sailing or if their reservation must be cancelled.

The ferry service warns there will be minimal space for standby passengers travelling from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay. It also asked people to take a taxi, public transit or get dropped off at the terminal as parking lots are expected to be full.

BC Ferries says the disruption is not expected to affect those travelling onward to Powell River on the Earls Cove to Saltery Bay route.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this issue,” the notice reads. “Our terminal maintenance crew is working to repair the issue as safely and quickly as possible; updates will be provided once we have more information.”
