Isaac Oliveira Scott, 29, of Victoria, was sentenced last month after pleading guilty to one count of drug trafficking, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and three firearms-related offences, according to an RCMP news release. Oliveira Scott was extradited from Germany in April after being arrested on an Interpol red notice. He was escorted back to Canada by members of the RCMP’s Federal Policing Pacific Region division. The investigation into his activities began in December 2022, when officers uncovered what they allege was a network that used the dark web, cryptocurrencies and Canada Post to distribute illegal drugs, including fentanyl pills, across the country. Oliveira Scott was first arrested in February 2024 after police executed a search warrant at a Metro Vancouver home. Investigators seized stolen firearms, ammunition and a variety of drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, the RCMP said in an April 14 statement. Police also found drug paraphernalia, fraudulent identification documents and cash during the search. Oliveira Scott was later released from custody while the investigation continued. Investigators believe he fled Canada in May 2025, several months before charges were laid against him. “Suspects may evade police to avoid prosecution, but this file represents the tenacity of federal investigators working with international law enforcement partners to ensure those who are charged in Canada will eventually be caught,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Bennett in the April statement. Bennett said the investigation was “remarkably complex” because the suspects allegedly used the dark web to conceal their activities. “It was a sophisticated enterprise that shipped all manner of illicit drugs across the country,” he said. Second suspect missing A second suspect, identified as 28-year-old Treshaun Thompson, was charged in August 2025 in connection with the same investigation, according to police. Investigators said Thompson is facing six charges related to drug trafficking and possession of an identity document without lawful excuse, however his whereabouts remain unknown. Thompson was reported missing from the Rockland area of Victoria on Sept. 9, 2025. Authorities said in April there was no known link between his disappearance and the drug investigation. On Wednesday, Bennett credited a “methodical and thorough investigation” with securing the convictions against Oliveira Scott. “The evidence collected against Oliveira Scott was considerable, and the results speak for themselves,” he said.
