The remains of an eastern Ontario man who went missing in 2018 have been located on the same property in Smiths Falls, Ont. where the body of another missing man was found last fall, according to Ontario Provincial Police. Robert Lambert, 75, of Montague Township, had not been seen since July 2018. Police canvassed for tips into his disappearance for years, even offering a $50,000 reward for information about his whereabouts. On Wednesday, police said Lambert’s remains were found on a property on Kelly Jordan Road in Smiths Falls, southwest of Ottawa, on July 20. “Locating Robert Lambert brings us one step closer to providing answers to a family that has waited eight years,” said OPP Det. Insp. Marty McConnell in a news release. “Our focus remains on following the evidence and conducting a thorough investigation. While we understand the community’s desire for answers, it is too early to speculate, and not all questions can be answered at this time.” Police say foul play is suspected in Lambert’s death. Same property where other missing man found Lambert’s remains were the second set of human remains found on the property, OPP said. Last October, police found the remains of Robbie Thomson, 34, of Smiths Falls, who disappeared in 2023. Four people are facing charges in connection with Thomson’s death, including three accused of first-degree murder. In a video posted to social media, OPP Sgt. Erin Cranton said charges have not been laid in connection with Lambert’s death at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
