Authorities are investigating after a cyclist allegedly attacked a man on an e-scooter in East Vancouver Monday night. The Vancouver Police Department said the victim was riding near Gladstone Street and Vanness Avenue when he was accosted by a suspect on a silver bicycle around 10:30 p.m. “The person on the bicycle was blocking the path,” Const. Megan Lui told CTV News. “I can’t tell you what was said, but there were things said—it’s evidentiary.” Related: B.C. father fined for allowing underage son to operate e-scooter The cyclist allegedly struck the man on the e-scooter in the face with a hammer. While the incident was alarming, Lui said the victim was not knocked to the ground and did not require hospitalization. Investigators are now working to identify the suspect, described as a white man in his late 40s with a grey buzz cut and facial stubble. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, black pants and black shoes. A second person reported being threatened by a man with a hammer who matched the suspect description, but was not attacked, police added. Authorities urged anyone with information that could help identify the suspect—or who has dash-cam video captured in the area around the time of the incident—to come forward.
